Weekly ministries

In the children's ministry at Calvary, we strive to teach children what it means to love God and to live in the way of Jesus.

Sunday School

All children from infants to sixth grade are invited to join us each Sunday morning for a time of age appropriate Bible study and fellowship. It is a time focused on learning more about God's love for us and God's presence with us. Children have the opportunity to fellowship with one another and get to know faithful teachers who desire to share Christ's love with them. Sunday school begins at 9:30am.

Extended Teaching Care

For infants through four years olds, we offer a time of extended teaching care during the Sunday morning worship service. This is a time of care and ministry for Calvary's youngest children. Extended session begins at 10:30am and ends when the worship service concludes.

Wednesday Evenings

On Wednesday evenings during the school year, we have children’s activities for infants through sixth graders. The night begins with a fellowship meal for the whole family from 5:00-6:00pm. Children’s Missions and Choir meets from 5:45-7:00pm for first through sixth graders, and Pre-K and Kindergarten Choir meets from 5:45-6:45pm. Children’s Missions and Choir is a time of music, movement, and learning about missions. We also have childcare available from 5:45-8:00pm for Kindergarten and below.

Annual Ministry events

Children’s Bible Club

Every summer, the entire Calvary congregation comes together to host a Bible club for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. We invite children from our congregation and the neighborhood to come and participate in worship, Bible stories, crafts, recreation, and fellowship. The week ends with a Family Night celebration.

Passport Kids Camp

Every summer, children who have completed third through sixth grades are invited to join us for a special weekend of Passport camp. Camp is a time for children to experience God’s love and learn more about following Jesus through Bible study, missions education, recreation, worship, and lots of fun and fellowship.

Music Camp

Every summer, we host a music camp for children who have completed first through sixth grades. During music camp, the children put together a musical and drama, and at the end of the week, the children share what they have learned with their Calvary family during the Sunday morning worship service.

Fun with Friends

Every summer during Music Camp, children who have completed pre-k and kindergarten are invited to join with friends in doing art and science projects. This is a time of fun and engaging activities for young children. The themes of art and science rotate every other summer.

Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Easter egg hunt for children takes place after worship on Palm Sunday in Seley Park across the street from the church.

Advent

Advent is a special time at Calvary. Each November, families participate in an Advent wreath-making activity. Each week of Advent, the families light another candle in the wreath as they pray and read Scripture together. This is a well-loved Calvary tradition and a great way that children learn about the importance of Jesus' birth.

Christmas Crafts Party

Each December, Calvary has a children's Christmas party. The children enjoy making several fun crafts. We have snacks, play games, sing carols, and hear the story of Jesus’ birth from Scripture.
