Weekly ministries

In the children's ministry at Calvary, we strive to teach children what it means to be loved by God, to love God, and to live in the way of Jesus.

Sunday School

All children from infants to sixth grade are invited to join us each Sunday morning for a time of age appropriate Bible study and fellowship. It is a time focused on learning more about God's love for us and God's presence with us. Children have the opportunity to fellowship with one another and get to know faithful teachers who desire to share Christ's love with them. Sunday school begins at 9:30am. See our Sunday school curriculum plan: Calvary_Children_Curriculum_Plan.pdf

Children & Worship

The Sunday morning worship service starts at 10:45am in the sanctuary. Children are always welcome in worship. They often take leadership roles, such as leading a prayer or reading Scripture. Our elementary children’s choirs sing in worship several times a year. We also provide special times for children in worship, including the children’s message and children’s blessing during Communion.

Children’s Worship Cart

We want to create space for children to be who they are in this place. The children’s worship cart includes worship resources and materials, art supplies, and children’s Bibles and storybooks to engage children during the worship service. Each Sunday, this worship cart is found in the back of the sanctuary for children to come in and get whatever they want to do during the service.

Extended Teaching Care

For infants through four years old, we offer a time of extended teaching care during the Sunday morning worship service. This is a time of care and ministry for Calvary's youngest children. Extended session begins at 10:30am and ends when the worship service concludes.

Wednesday Evenings

On Wednesday evenings during the school year, we have children’s activities for infants through sixth graders. The night begins with a fellowship meal for the whole family from 5:00-6:00pm. Children’s Missions and Choir meets from 5:45-7:00pm for first through sixth graders, and Pre-K and Kindergarten Choir meets from 5:45-6:45pm. Children’s Missions and Choir is a time of music, movement, and learning about missions. We also have childcare available from 5:45-8:00pm for Kindergarten and below.

Annual events

Children's Bible Club

Every summer, the entire Calvary congregation comes together to host a Bible club for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. We invite children from our congregation and the neighborhood to come and participate in worship, Bible stories, crafts, recreation, and fellowship. The week ends with a Family Night celebration.

Passport Kids Camp

Every summer, children who have completed third through sixth grades are invited to join us for a special week of Passport camp. Camp is a time for children to experience God’s love and learn more about following Jesus through Bible study, missions education, recreation, worship, and lots of fun and fellowship.

Parents Night Out

At least one evening each semester, children 6 months - 5 years old are invited to come enjoy a time of crafts, snacks, and play at church while their parents take the evening off!

Advent Wreaths

Advent is a special time at Calvary. Each year, families participate in an Advent wreath-making activity. Each week of Advent, the families light another candle in the wreath as they pray and read Scripture together. This is a well-loved Calvary tradition and a great way for children to learn about the importance of Jesus' birth.

Christmas Craft Party

Each December, children from kindergarten through sixth grade come together for a time of creating crafts, enjoying snacks, decorating Christmas cookies, and reflecting on the birth of Christ together.
